Suunto has introduced the Suunto Run 2, a lightweight running watch designed for road runners and marathon training. Its headline features include a 2,000-nit AMOLED display, dual-band GNSS, offline maps and around 10 days of battery life.
The watch builds on the original Suunto Run with improvements to display brightness, battery capacity, heart-rate monitoring and satellite positioning. Suunto says the upgrades are intended to support everything from everyday training sessions to structured marathon preparation.
A lightweight design for continuous wear
The Suunto Run 2 has a 35-gram watch body measuring 11.7 millimeters thick. Its compact construction is designed to remain comfortable during training, sleep and everyday activities, allowing the watch to collect a more complete picture of exercise, recovery and rest.
Its 1.32-inch AMOLED display reaches up to 2,000 nits of brightness, making it three times brighter than the screen used in the previous model. Large data fields help runners quickly check pace, heart rate and distance without breaking their rhythm.
The watch combines a stainless-steel bezel, Gorilla Glass and 5 ATM water resistance, giving it the durability needed for changing weather and regular outdoor training.
Longer battery life and improved GPS
A 29 percent increase in battery capacity provides approximately 10 days of everyday use with training. The watch can also operate for up to 24 hours while using dual-band GNSS, although actual performance will depend on settings and operating conditions.
Its new-generation positioning system receives L1 and L5 signals from GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou and QZSS satellites. This multi-system approach is intended to improve pace, distance and route accuracy, particularly around tall buildings and other challenging environments.
Updated heart-rate monitoring
Suunto has redesigned the wrist-based heart-rate sensor with 12 optical channels positioned behind curved 2.5D sensor glass. The company says the new arrangement improves readings across recovery runs, interval sessions and race-day efforts.
Runners seeking more detailed measurements can pair the watch with the new Suunto Smart Heart Rate Belt 2. The chest strap provides beat-to-beat R-R interval data and supports Suunto ZoneSense, which uses heart-rate variability to estimate whether the athlete is working aerobically, anaerobically or near maximum effort.
Live pacing and marathon features
The Suunto Run 2 introduces tools designed to help runners manage effort while they are still moving. EnergySense compares current exertion with remaining capacity, helping runners decide whether to maintain their pace, slow down or push harder.
Marathon Time calculates an estimated finishing time based on the runner’s current pace. Marathon Mode also includes Ghost Runner and other race-oriented tools for tracking progress toward a target.
Training Plan can translate objectives—such as completing a marathon in under four hours—into individual easy runs, intervals and long sessions. Training Zone combines training load, heart-rate variability, sleep and recovery information into a single overview.
Offline maps and phone-free audio
Free worldwide offline maps can be downloaded directly to the Suunto Run 2. Routes, streets and surrounding terrain remain accessible from the wrist without an active internet connection, making the feature useful for unfamiliar city routes and off-road exploration.
The watch can also store music and podcasts for playback through wireless headphones, allowing runners to leave their phones behind during training.
Suunto Smart Heart Rate Belt 2
Launching alongside the watch, the Suunto Smart Heart Rate Belt 2 uses ECG-based detection to identify artifacts in heart-rate and R-R interval measurements. A redesigned chest strap also helps protect readings against electrostatic noise.
A six-axis inertial measurement unit can record running-form metrics when paired with a compatible Suunto watch. These include cadence, ground-contact time, vertical oscillation, flight time and left-to-right contact balance.
The belt offers approximately 460 hours of battery life, up to 20 hours of rolling workout memory and simultaneous Bluetooth connectivity with as many as three devices.
Price and availability
Suunto Run 2 preorders and global availability begin on September 8, 2026. The watch is priced at $349 for the 4GB model and $399 for the 64GB model.
Available colors include All Black, Feather Gold and Aloe Green. The watch will be sold through Suunto’s Suunto and authorized running and r retailers across North America, Europe and selected Asia-Pacific markeoutdoots.
