HUAWEI WATCH D3 Debuts With Smarter BP Monitoring

Huawei has offered an early look at the HUAWEI WATCH D3, its next-generation wrist-based ambulatory blood pressure monitor, during ESC Congress 2026 in Munich. The wearable builds on the WATCH D series with expanded blood pressure measurement scenarios, a lighter design, and additional health monitoring features. Its appearance at the cardiovascular medicine event comes just ahead of the device’s official unveiling on September 2.

Blood Pressure Monitoring Expands Beyond Resting Measurements

The headline upgrade is the HUAWEI WATCH D3’s ability to measure blood pressure across a wider range of situations. According to Huawei, the watch can deliver blood pressure measurements at elevated heart rates and record readings before and after exercise. That could make the device more useful for people who want to observe how blood pressure changes around physical activity rather than relying only on measurements taken while resting.

The watch can also provide recommendations concerning appropriate exercise intensity based on its monitoring features. However, wearable health data needs to be interpreted carefully. Huawei itself notes that information collected through Health Glance features and health studies is intended for reference and should not be used for diagnosis or treatment.

CE MDR Certification Covers Multiple Measurement Modes

A particularly important detail is the WATCH D3’s regulatory scope. Huawei says the device has received CE MDR certification in the European Union covering single blood pressure measurements, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, and blood pressure measurements taken before and after exercise.

This continues the health-focused direction established by the original HUAWEI WATCH D in 2021 and expanded with the WATCH D2 in 2024. The latter introduced 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, while the D3 is positioned as an evolution designed to handle more measurement scenarios rather than simply adding another general-purpose smartwatch sensor.

Environmental Reminders Add Context to Monitoring

The WATCH D3 also introduces blood pressure measurement reminders for situations involving high-altitude environments and sudden temperature changes. Instead of treating blood pressure monitoring as an isolated manual action, these reminders are designed to encourage measurements when environmental conditions change.

Beyond blood pressure, Huawei says the watch includes additional Health Glance metrics and access to health studies, alongside improvements to sleep and emotional wellbeing tracking. The company has not yet detailed exactly which metrics, studies, or tracking improvements will be available, so their practical scope remains something to watch when the full product is announced.

A Lighter WATCH D for Longer Wear

Comfort matters more than usual for a wearable designed around ambulatory monitoring, since useful longitudinal data depends on people actually keeping the device on their wrist. Huawei says it has reduced both device thickness and strap weight for the WATCH D3, although exact dimensions and weight have not yet been disclosed.

Three color options inspired by what the company calls “nature’s healing” will also be offered. More importantly, the thinner and lighter construction suggests Huawei is trying to make the specialized blood pressure hardware easier to integrate into everyday wear rather than treating the D series purely as a monitoring instrument.

The HUAWEI WATCH D3 therefore looks less like a radical reset of the series and more like an attempt to make wrist-based blood pressure tracking useful across more situations, particularly around exercise and changing environments. Full specifications, pricing, and availability have not yet been announced and are expected to become clearer around the September 2 launch. Huawei will reveal additional details about the wearable and its health applications at the official Munich event.
