Hikvision DeepinView Cameras Gain EUCC Certification

Hikvision has announced that its DeepinView iDS-2CD7x network camera series has received EUCC certification, becoming the first surveillance camera product category to reach this European cybersecurity milestone. The certification gives security teams a more concrete way to assess network camera security instead of relying entirely on manufacturer claims.

What the EUCC Certification Actually Means

EUCC, or the European Cybersecurity Certification Scheme on Common Criteria, is designed to provide a harmonized method for evaluating digital products across the European Union. It is based on internationally recognized Common Criteria standards and examines not only product features, but also development procedures, vulnerability handling, documentation, and ongoing security maintenance.

The Hikvision DeepinView iDS-2CD7x series achieved the EUCC Substantial assurance level. The evaluation aligns with Evaluation Assurance Level 3, or EAL3, and includes ALC_FLR.2 requirements covering flaw remediation. In practical terms, this means the product and its development process were independently reviewed to determine whether stated security functions are designed and implemented consistently.

Independent Testing Adds More Credibility

The certification was issued by TrustCB B.V., an independent certification body authorized by the Netherlands Authority for Digital Infrastructure. The technical security evaluation was conducted by Bureau Veritas Cybersecurity Europe under ISO/IEC 15408 and CEM:2022 R1 standards.

That separation between manufacturer, testing laboratory, and certification body matters. A security badge carries more weight when the company selling the camera is not also the company deciding whether the camera deserves the badge. The process gives enterprise buyers, infrastructure operators, and public-sector organizations a clearer reference when reviewing cybersecurity compliance for connected surveillance systems.

Security Controls Inside the DeepinView Series

The EUCC assessment covers several security areas that are critical for IP cameras. These include identity authentication, access control, secure communications, security auditing, and vulnerability management. Together, these controls are intended to reduce unauthorized access, protect data transmission, record security-related events, and provide a structured process for addressing discovered flaws.

For connected cameras, these protections are not decorative extras. Network cameras often operate continuously, communicate across internal networks, and may handle sensitive video data. A weak device can become an entry point into a larger system, which is why secure communications and controlled administrative access matter just as much as image quality or low-light performance.

Why EUCC Matters for European Deployments

The certification arrives as European organizations face stricter cybersecurity expectations under frameworks such as the Cyber Resilience Act and the NIS2 Directive. EUCC can help manufacturers and customers use a more consistent benchmark when selecting products for government facilities, transportation networks, energy sites, industrial systems, and other security-sensitive environments.

Certification does not make any connected device magically immune to future attacks. Firmware updates, secure configuration, network segmentation, password policies, and vulnerability monitoring remain necessary. Still, independently verified security-by-design practices provide a stronger starting point than vague promises of protection.

Hikvision has not announced new pricing or a separate release schedule connected to the certification. The EUCC status applies to the certified DeepinView iDS-2CD7x network camera series, with product availability depending on regional distributors and deployment requirements. For buyers operating in regulated or high-security environments, the certification adds a useful technical credential, though it should remain one part of a broader security assessment rather than the only checkbox.
