Urban Arrow Breeze Brings Cargo Power to Longtail E-Bikes

Urban Arrow is moving beyond its familiar front-loading cargo bikes with the Breeze, its first longtail electric cargo bike. Instead of placing the main cargo area ahead of the rider, the new model uses an extended rear rack while keeping the proportions and handling closer to a conventional bicycle. The result is a longtail e-bike aimed primarily at families that need serious carrying capacity without committing to the larger footprint of a front-loader.

A Longtail Designed to Feel Like a Regular Bike

One of the Breeze’s most interesting choices is its pair of 24-inch wheels. Urban Arrow says this configuration helps provide predictable handling and stability, particularly at higher speeds or when passengers are aboard. Combined with a very low step-through frame, the bike should also be easier to mount when fully loaded. That approach makes the 24-inch wheels and low step-through frame important parts of the Breeze’s everyday usability rather than merely styling decisions.

The format also gives Urban Arrow a way to address riders who want cargo-bike practicality but find traditional front-loaders bulky. The Breeze is still clearly built around utility, yet its more familiar geometry could reduce the learning curve for people moving from a normal bicycle or e-bike.

Serious Cargo Capacity Behind the Rider

Despite its relatively compact format, the Breeze is rated for a total payload of 440 pounds. Its extended rear rack alone supports up to 176 pounds, providing enough capacity for two children or a combination of passengers, groceries and everyday gear. A stable kickstand is included to make loading and unloading less awkward, which becomes rather important when the cargo has legs and a habit of moving unexpectedly.

Urban Arrow has also integrated the MIK HD mounting system at both the front and rear. Compatible accessories can therefore be swapped without tools, allowing owners to change the bike between passenger transport and cargo duty without rebuilding half the bicycle. Spoke and belt guards provide additional protection around moving components, while an integrated front lock and dedicated chain-lock storage address everyday security.

Bosch Power Meets a Low-Maintenance Drivetrain

Electric assistance comes from Bosch’s Cargo Line motor, a drive system specifically developed for heavily loaded e-bikes. Urban Arrow pairs it with an Enviolo hub and Gates Carbon belt drive. Compared with a conventional derailleur and chain setup, the combination emphasizes smooth operation, low maintenance and quieter riding, all useful traits for a bike expected to handle school runs and regular errands.

A fixed Bosch Purion 200 display provides the main rider interface. Rather than turning the handlebar into a gadget dashboard, it keeps essential e-bike controls and ride information within easy reach. That fits the broader design philosophy here: plenty of capability, but without making routine operation unnecessarily complicated.

A Different Kind of Family Cargo Bike

The Breeze does not replace Urban Arrow’s larger front-loaders. Instead, it gives the company a second approach to electric cargo transport, trading the giant front box for more agile handling while retaining substantial carrying ability. For suburban families in particular, that balance could make it useful for school trips, shopping and other short journeys where a car often becomes the default simply because humans apparently require an alarming amount of equipment to leave the house.

The Urban Arrow Breeze is available now through selected retailers in the United States and Canada, initially in green, with a price of $6,999. A launch package includes a protection bar, footrests, front rack and two seat cushions, accessories valued by the company at more than $700. For Urban Arrow, the Breeze represents a notable expansion beyond its front-loader roots and into the increasingly important premium longtail e-bike segment.
