Department of Homeland Security, Science & Technology Directorate has been developing new technologies to detect, deter, and defeat terrorism. The technology is designed to harden aircraft from explosions, create a high-altitude missile detect and countermeasures system, add security sensors to shipping containers, build a superconducting electrical transmission grid, detect hostile persons by remotely screening their physiology, scan people from a distance for explosives, and more.
