Narwal Flow 2 Upgrades Robot Mopping With VLM

Narwal Flow 2

Narwal Flow 2 arrives as the company’s new 2026 flagship robot vacuum, and it is clearly aimed at users who want more than routine floor cleaning. Narwal is pushing this model as a smarter, more context-aware home cleaner, combining stronger AI features, upgraded mopping hardware, and a more refined dock design. Instead of chasing flashy specs alone, the new machine tries to solve a familiar robot vacuum problem: how to clean more intelligently in messy real-world homes.

A smarter robot that understands more of the room

The headline feature is the addition of a Vision Language Model, or VLM, which gives the Flow 2 a more advanced way to interpret its surroundings. In simple terms, this system is designed to recognize objects and situations with more flexibility than traditional onboard recognition alone. That matters because robot vacuums often struggle once the floor stops looking predictable and starts looking like an actual lived-in home.

With dual RGB cameras and an onboard AI processor, the robot can avoid obstacles and adjust its cleaning behavior based on what it sees. Narwal also adds scenario-based tools like Pet Care Mode, Baby Care Mode, and AI Floor Tag. These are not just fancy menu names. Pet mode can help identify pet areas and even locate pets, while baby mode focuses on quieter operation near cribs and can recognize toys on the floor.

FlowWash pushes mopping further

The biggest hardware upgrade is the revised FlowWash mopping system. Narwal raises the hot-water cleaning temperature from 113 degrees Fahrenheit to 140 degrees Fahrenheit, which should improve how the mop deals with sticky residue and grime. Instead of relying on common dual-spin or roller designs, the Flow 2 uses a high-speed track mop that rolls at more than 100 rotations per minute while maintaining steady downward pressure.

This system also uses a 16-nozzle rinse setup and an internal scraper to remove debris during cleaning. Wastewater is collected inside while hot water keeps refreshing the mop in real time. The practical idea is simple: the mop stays cleaner while cleaning the floor, rather than dragging dirt around. Narwal also says the flat-loop structure helps reduce hair tangles, a problem that still annoys plenty of users with pets or long hair at home.

More power, longer runtime, less babysitting

Beyond the AI and mopping story, the Flow 2 packs some serious flagship hardware. It includes a 31,000Pa suction system, CarpetFocus technology, anti-tangle engineering, and a 7,000 mAh battery. Narwal says the battery system also uses AI-powered health management, while the robot can handle simultaneous washing and fast charging to reduce downtime between cleaning sessions.

The dock is equally important here. It supports self-emptying, AI adaptive hot-water mop washing, and a dust bag rated for up to 120 days of maintenance-free use. There is also 3D color mapping for more visual control in the app, which should make route planning and room management feel more interactive than the flat maps many users are used to.

A robot vacuum that finally looks less like an appliance

One of the more interesting changes is the industrial design. Narwal gives the base station a semi-enclosed shape with a square profile, frosted glass surfaces, and an ambient light strip underneath. That may sound cosmetic, but premium robot vacuums are now expected to sit in visible parts of the home, not hide in utility corners. A cleaner-looking dock makes sense when these machines are becoming permanent fixtures in modern interiors.

Overall, the Flow 2 feels like Narwal is trying to combine real cleaning upgrades with smarter contextual awareness rather than relying on suction numbers alone. The new model will be available for pre-order from April 13 to April 28, priced at $1,099.99 during the launch promotion, with a regular MSRP of $1,499.99. For users who care about advanced mopping, object recognition, and a more polished dock design, Narwal is clearly positioning this release as a serious premium option in the 2026 robot vacuum race.
