iRobot Expands Smart Cleaning With Roomba Electro Plus

iRobot is expanding beyond robotic vacuuming with one of its most ambitious product launches in recent years. Alongside a completely redesigned family of Roomba robots, the company has unveiled the Roomba Electro Plus, a new cordless floor-cleaning device that brings disinfecting, vacuuming, and mopping into a single solution. The move highlights iRobot’s vision of creating a broader floor-care ecosystem that combines hands-free automation with deeper manual cleaning when needed.

Rather than focusing solely on robotic cleaning, iRobot is now offering consumers multiple ways to maintain hard floors. The latest lineup is designed to address different cleaning habits, from quick daily upkeep handled by robots to intensive floor sanitization performed with a dedicated cordless cleaner.

A New Approach to Hard Floor Cleaning

The headline product is the Roomba Electro Plus, a cordless cleaner that combines vacuuming, mopping, and sanitizing into one workflow. Unlike traditional floor-cleaning devices that require detergents or chemical solutions, it uses electrolyzed water technology to transform ordinary tap water into a disinfecting agent.

This technology allows the device to eliminate bacteria, viruses, fungi, and common household germs without introducing additional chemicals into the cleaning process. For households with children or pets, the approach offers a simpler cleaning routine while reducing dependence on cleaning agents and disposable products.

The system also incorporates features such as PowerSpin roller mopping, automatic self-cleaning functions, anti-hair-wrap technology, and a self-maintaining ThermaClean dock that washes and dries the cleaning components after use.

Roomba Robots Get Smarter and More Compact

The second part of the announcement introduces a new generation of Roomba robots. The updated range includes the Max 775 Combo, Max 715 Vacuum, Plus 575 Combo, Plus 515 Combo, and Plus 415 Combo.

A key improvement is the significantly more compact design found in the Plus series. These models are designed to reach under low furniture and navigate tighter spaces that were previously difficult for robot vacuums to access. With clearance requirements as low as 9 centimeters, the new robots are better suited to modern apartments and densely furnished homes.

At the same time, suction performance has been upgraded across the lineup, helping the robots tackle dust, pet hair, crumbs, and larger debris more effectively than earlier generations.

Advanced Navigation and AI Features

Navigation has become a major focus of the new generation. Premium models now feature ClearView Pro LiDAR technology capable of creating detailed 3D maps of indoor spaces. These maps help robots optimize cleaning routes while identifying furniture layouts and room boundaries with greater accuracy.

The flagship models also introduce PrecisionVision AI, enabling obstacle recognition for common household items such as cables, shoes, and pet-related hazards. This reduces interruptions and minimizes the need for users to prepare rooms before each cleaning session.

Combined with automatic room recognition and adaptive cleaning behavior, the new software platform allows the robots to respond more intelligently to changing household conditions.

Building a Complete Cleaning Ecosystem

The broader strategy behind the launch is not simply about releasing new hardware. Instead, iRobot is positioning its products as interconnected tools that handle different aspects of home maintenance. Robot vacuums provide daily cleaning automation, while the Electro Plus addresses situations where users want more direct control and deeper sanitization.

Several models also include advanced docking stations that automatically empty dust bins, wash mop pads, dispense cleaning solution, and dry components after use. These features significantly reduce routine maintenance while extending autonomous operation for up to several months.

With prices ranging from $399.99 for the Roomba Electro Plus to $999.99 for the Roomba Max 775 Combo Robot + AutoWash Dock, the new products target a broad range of consumers. Pre-orders are available now, with retail availability scheduled later this month. Through this expanded portfolio, iRobot is attempting to redefine modern floor care by combining chemical-free sanitization, smarter robotics, and greater automation into a unified home-cleaning experience.
