GoPro MISSION 1 Gets New Creator Kits and Gear

GoPro is expanding its MISSION 1 camera ecosystem with a batch of new creator-focused bundles and accessories aimed at turning its compact cameras into more complete production rigs. The lineup includes the MISSION 1 PRO Creator Edition, MISSION 1 PRO Ultimate Creator Edition, a redesigned Media Mod, Volta 2 battery grip, and Universal Adhesive Mount, alongside new firmware for existing MISSION 1 cameras.

Two MISSION 1 PRO Kits for Different Creators

The MISSION 1 PRO Creator Edition is essentially the ready-to-vlog configuration. Its core is the MISSION 1 PRO camera, which combines a 50MP 1-inch sensor with GoPro’s GP3 processor. The bundle adds the new Media Mod, Volta 2 Battery Grip, and Wireless Mic Complete Kit, covering video, audio, connectivity, and extended power without requiring creators to assemble those components separately.

The MISSION 1 PRO Ultimate Creator Edition takes a different approach by prioritizing a more complete filmmaking setup. It keeps the same MISSION 1 PRO camera but adds the Fluid Pro AI gimbal with AI-powered subject tracking, Wireless Mic Complete Kit, Light Mod 2, and Media Mod. Unlike the standard Creator Edition, this package focuses more heavily on stabilization and lighting rather than extended handheld battery power.

Media Mod Brings Serious Audio and I/O

One of the more interesting additions is the redesigned Media Mod for the MISSION 1 Series. Its built-in multi-pattern microphone offers eight pickup pattern options, allowing the audio capture width to better match the camera’s field of view. That could make the compact system more flexible for interviews, vlogging, travel videos, and other situations where carrying separate audio hardware is inconvenient.

Connectivity is also unusually extensive for an accessory built around a compact camera. There are three 3.5mm ports for an external microphone, timecode-compatible line input, and headphones for live monitoring. Micro-HDMI supports video output at up to 4K60 for external displays, recorders, or live production. The Mod also gets its own mounting system, allowing the camera to be inserted or removed without dismantling an entire rig.

Volta 2 Extends the Shooting Day

The new Volta 2 combines a 5800mAh battery, handheld grip, tripod, remote camera controls, and a standard 1/4-20 mounting point. GoPro rates the accessory for up to nine hours of 4K30 recording under its specified test conditions, making it particularly relevant for creators shooting long sessions away from convenient charging points.

A simpler addition is the Universal Adhesive Mount 2-Pack. Designed for helmets, drones, boards, and other flat or curved surfaces, it uses a flexible buckle base with waterproof adhesive. It is less glamorous than a gimbal or wireless microphone, but mounting hardware becomes rather important once a camera is expected to operate somewhere other than a desk.

Firmware Connects the Expanded Ecosystem

MISSION 1 and MISSION 1 PRO owners are also getting a firmware update that enables accessory compatibility with the expanded ecosystem, including Media Mod and Volta 2. The update brings image-quality changes as well, including revised contrast and tone tuning in Dive mode, improved color accuracy, and adjustments to cinematic motion blur.

Both creator bundles are available now through GoPro‘s online store, with global retailer availability scheduled for August. The MISSION 1 PRO Creator Edition costs $1,099.99, or $949.99 for eligible existing yearly subscribers, while the Ultimate Creator Edition is $1,199.99, or $1,049.99 for eligible subscribers. Media Mod costs $149.99, Volta 2 is $139.99, and the Universal Adhesive Mount 2-Pack is $14.99. GoPro also plans to release the interchangeable-lens-compatible MISSION 1 PRO ILS later this quarter, further extending the system beyond its action-camera roots.
