3D TV was popular in 1990s, i remember when the kids around the block bought 3D glasses to watch 3D TV. It was, and now i never see it again. But now scientists are promising to deliver the real 3D TV so you don`t need any glasses to get 3D illusion. The illusion is achieved by sending different images to left and right eye, thank to the ribbed lens.
As reported by www.dailymail.co.uk, Hans Driessen, of Philips 3D Solutions, said: “In normal life, if you look at an object from two metres away your left eye and your right eye see a slightly different image because they’re a few centimetres apart. Your brain creates the perception of 3D. To recreate that for TV we must send a slightly different image to both eyes so your brain creates that depth perception again. We can do this on a 2D screen by using glasses but with 3D TV we do it by using a ribbed lens.”
The availability is expected in the next 5 years with the estimated price around £2,500 (if we can ignore inflation).
