Lenovo Unveils Chromebook Plus 14 with Hybrid AI Power

Lenovo has officially rolled out its latest entry into the Chromebook category with the launch of the Chromebook Plus (14″, 10), a device that merges high-efficiency processing with on-device and cloud-based AI features. As hybrid work and study continue to shape user needs, Lenovo’s new model aims to balance portability, performance, and AI integration—without overly inflating its profile.

A First for MediaTek on Chromebooks

This is the first Chromebook powered by the MediaTek Kompanio Ultra 910 processor, combining an Arm Immortalis-G925 GPU and a dedicated MediaTek NPU 890. With claims of delivering up to 50 TOPS (Tera Operations Per Second), the device is clearly positioned to handle more advanced tasks than typical Chromebooks, particularly when it comes to running AI tools both locally and through the cloud.

Users will find Google’s AI-powered features tightly integrated throughout the ChromeOS experience—such as tab grouping, on-device photo editing, and a built-in “Help Me Read” tool that simplifies complex text. Optical character recognition (OCR) tools are also available to lift data from images or documents directly into Google Calendar or Docs.

Multimedia Boost and Premium Build

For a Chromebook, the audio and display setup is arguably more ambitious than usual. The 14-inch display uses a 2K OLED panel with a 100% DCI-P3 color gamut and 400 nits brightness, offering strong contrast and vivid visuals for tasks like video editing or creative work. Dolby Atmos-enhanced quad speakers—including two downward-firing woofers—add depth to sound, aiming to offer a more immersive media experience.

Design-wise, Lenovo keeps it minimalist with an aluminum chassis, backlit keyboard, and a large touchpad. The build also supports two external 4K displays, includes a 5MP webcam with a physical shutter, and has an optional fingerprint reader for added security.

Built for Long Days and Quiet Spaces

One standout specification is the claimed up to 17-hour battery life, which puts it above many other Chromebooks and even some ultraportables. The device is also fanless, making it a quieter choice for library sessions or late-night work. With a starting weight of 1.17kg (2.58 lbs), it’s also one of the lighter 14-inch Chromebooks on the market.

Connectivity options are relatively up to date with Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, two USB-C ports, one USB-A, and a 3.5mm audio combo jack. Storage tops out at 256GB, and RAM configurations go up to 16GB LPDDR5.

ChromeOS in Enterprise and Education Settings

Beyond personal use, the Chromebook Plus (14″, 10) also targets enterprise and education sectors. With support for Chrome Enterprise Upgrade and Chrome Education Upgrade, IT admins can manage large fleets of devices, enforce policies, deploy software, and control access—all remotely through Google Admin console tools.

The Lenovo Chromebook Plus (14″, 10) is now available via commercial and consumer channels, starting at $649, with two color options—Seashell and Lunar Grey.
