At its Beijing launch event, Xiaomi officially introduced the Xiaomi 17 Ultra as its most advanced smartphone to date, reinforcing the company’s flagship ambitions in mobile imaging and performance. Alongside new wearables and smart home products, Xiaomi used this launch to spotlight a deeper evolution in its long-standing collaboration with Xiaomi, positioning the Xiaomi 17 Ultra as the first device built under a newly announced Strategic Co-creation Model with Leica.
Rather than treating imaging as a late-stage feature integration, Xiaomi and Leica now collaborate from the earliest product definition stage. This approach brings Leica’s optical heritage, visual philosophy, and camera interaction principles directly into the smartphone design process, aiming to overcome long-standing limitations of mobile photography while preserving a distinctly professional imaging character.
Ultra-Slim Design With a Flat Display First
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra marks a notable design shift as the first Ultra model to adopt a flat display, paired with ultra-thin bezels and a clean, linear form factor. Measuring just 8.29mm thick, it becomes the slimmest Ultra device Xiaomi has ever released, while maintaining the visual identity of the Xiaomi 17 Series.
Subtle refinements such as a micro-curved aluminum alloy frame, reduced camera module diameter, and higher camera placement significantly improve balance and ergonomics. Available in White, Black, Purple, and Green, the device is complemented by newly redesigned photography kits with magnetic attachment and an ultra-thin composite fiber case for daily use.
Triple Leica Camera System With APO Telephoto
Photography remains the centerpiece of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, featuring a triple-camera setup that includes a 14mm ultra-wide lens, a 23mm Leica 1-inch sensor main camera, and a groundbreaking 200MP 75–100mm optical zoom telephoto lens. This configuration is designed to cover landscape, portrait, and street photography with consistent optical quality.
The 200MP telephoto camera introduces a Leica APO optical lens design using custom glass materials to minimize chromatic aberration at the hardware level. Combined with a large 1/1.4-inch sensor and native-resolution capture across the zoom range, Xiaomi 17 Ultra becomes the first Xiaomi flagship to receive Leica APO certification.
Flagship Performance and Display Technology
Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform, Xiaomi 17 Ultra delivers flagship-level performance supported by an upgraded 3D Dual-Channel IceLoop cooling system. Thermal conductivity is improved by 50% compared to the previous generation, enabling sustained performance under heavy workloads.
The device features a 120Hz LTPO display with 3500 nits peak brightness and Xiaomi HyperRGB technology, balancing visual clarity with power efficiency. Protected by Xiaomi Shield Glass 3.0, the screen offers up to 20 times better drop resistance than standard strengthened glass.
Battery, Connectivity, and Smart Ecosystem
Despite its slim profile, Xiaomi 17 Ultra packs a massive 6800mAh battery, supporting 90W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and universal PD PPS fast charging. Connectivity is equally robust, with support for 51 global 4G and 5G bands and UWB-based digital car key functionality.
Running Xiaomi HyperOS 3 out of the box, the device enhances cross-platform integration, including screen mirroring with Apple devices and dual-phone “two-in-one” control for Xiaomi users. Xiaomi confirms that Xiaomi 17 Ultra and its Leica edition will be available from December 27, 2025, with pricing starting at RMB 6999 in China.
