The new Optio WG-1 GPS compact camera from PENTAX is waterproof to 33 feet, shockproof from 5 feet, and coolproof to a sub-freesing -10 C° or 14 F°. This 14 megapixels camera comes with Digital Microscope mode that enlarges up to 37X. Designed for adventurers, the Optio WG-1 also includes GPS functionaly. Other highlights include: Large 2.7 inch LCD, HDMI port, 720p HD video, and Digital Shake Reduction. I don’t know how much it costs, the page seems broken as I reviewed the product page.
Do I need this waterproof camera? I have a DSLR camera Nikon D5000, I use it occasionaly for landscape photgraphy and model photography. But I think I still need a waterproof camera as I also love to swim at the weekend. I’ve never imagined to take my DSLR camera while I’m at swimming pool, I don’t want to take the risk breaking my expensive DSLR camera, right?. And I think the Optio WG-1 is a good candidate for this reason. What do you think?
